Magic Transformations for Your Home (Even for Your Toilet!)

Okay, I admit it … I am not a big fan of house chores and I am a HUGE FAN of quick transformational fixes, so when I read about how you can feed your toilet 2 household medical tablets and it will clean itself, I just HAD TO try it. 

The household medicine is Alka-Seltzer! Drop 2 of them into your toilet bowl and let it fizzle for about 20 minutes and you will see your toilet sparkle with cleanliness. I tried it and it did work. I guess it all depends on the level of “dirtiness”, but give it a try … even for just the fun of it.

Below are some decorating tips I gave on a past issue of “Smart Decorating!” ezine called “Design Magic Tricks”. Abracadabra . . .

  • Coffee cup - POOF - becomes pencil & penholders (I have a large blue coffee cup in my office that holds all my drawing pencils & brushes)
  • Old t-shirt - POOF - becomes a new pillow cover for your old sofa throw pillows (if you do not like sewing, try cutting the top & bottom of the t- shirt & slipping it over your pillow to give the pillow a new color or design)
  • Fork - POOF - becomes a hammer head that can remove small nails with large heads (Just make sure you place a cloth between the fork & wall to prevent scratches)
  • Fruit basket - POOF - becomes a magazine holder
  • Overflow of books – POOF – becomes a coffee table (Not just a table, but also a height adjustable table!)
  • Linen Closet - POOF - becomes bookshelves (Simply remove the door & display your books, picture frames, etc.)
